This years Holiday Card Project
brought record numbers!! Not only did we meet our goal but we almost doubled last year's numbers!! We received over 2150 cards for our Features!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Allow me to share all the details :)
We had numerous scouting troops participate, one church youth group, another non-profit organization, a child development class AND the largest number of ShareaCard members EVER! One young lady, Skylar, had chosen promoting ShareaCard for her senior project. She knew first hand how ShareaCard impacted her family when we featured her  father, John, back in 2004. Sadly, John passed away in March, 2005. How proud he would be to know what his daughter has generated for ShareaCard! She contacted more than 60 businesses/friends/schoolmates/family in her town and asked them to participate in HCP or send a donation of money or materials. When I opened the box she packaged up last week, it brought tears to my eyes. Not only did the box contain almost 300 cards but it contained donations she collected as well as stamps, mailing envelopes and labels! And wow did that come in handy! The price of postage had more than doubled for our mailings compared to last year with the increase and restrictions on postal rates as well as having more active Features than in past years. We also had to purchase 26 boxes from the UPS store in order to mail out all the cards. How wonderful! If anyone has any connections with the UPS store or a mailing supply store, please let me know.  We'd like to get an early jump on this next year and see if we can have them donated.

Angels of Destiny, had several families in their organization participate and they donated cards as well as hand painted angel ornaments and a box of 4 Northern Lights ornaments for each Feature! How generous they always are :)

Several of our regular members, used the HCP as a "bonding time" with their families and had their children and grandchildren make cards too! We had lots of store bought cards and lots of computer generated cards and even a lot of gorgeous hand stamped cards and some very pretty cards devised from kits you assembled. ALL the cards were truly beautiful! One member, even enclosed a music module card for Jennifer, who is sight impaired. How thoughtful!  The little kids who participated, had written their names and ages and even some really cute little phrases/sentiments and drew pictures that made Cindy and I cry and giggle. We know the Features will get a kick out of their cards. Everyone went above and beyond!!

We'd also like to thank those of you who sent cards for us, the Moderators and wrote little notes to us with your cards. I'll be forwarding those cards on this week.

We had so many cards, we had to make this a 2 day project! On Day 2, I arrived with all the boxes and we packed it all up and headed for a last minute check at the post office for cards. Cindy came out with 2 more packages of cards, so we we standing in the parking lot, opening all the boxes and inserting more cards into them :) The postmaster came out the back door and offered to carry in the packages while we continued stuffing the remaining ones. We piled his arms full, numerous times, and he would return for another armload. It was so exciting. Can you tell? I'd have loved for you all to be there and I hope by giving you all the details, you will feel like you were! Due to the storms in our area, Cindy has been without power for days but as soon as she gets back to normal, she'll forward the pics we took to me and I'll share them. I'm also working on placing all your names on a webpage. I hope to have that done soon.

When Cindy and I calculated the numbers, we cried once again. If that wasn't a scene in a Wendy's Restaurant with a calculator and our lunch and bawling<lol> Each year is very rewarding and gets emotional for both of us but this year we were both very mushy. Overwhelmed by all the love and support each of you has offered those at ShareaCard and make this project such a success each year! It makes us think of Suzanne and how proud she would be of all of you and how much this program has grown and grown and how each of YOU have made it all possible for her legacy to continue :) THANK YOU seems like such a small word for all you have done but it comes from the bottom of our hearts!

ShareaCard has seen many changes this year and we are looking forward to more great things in 2008.
Big Hugs,
Kath, Cindy, Gigi, Connie and Tricia
