as told by her friend and fellow church member, Shirley
Sadly, Donna lost her battle
with cancer on March 10, 2010. Our sympathies to her friends
and family.
Donna is a person that has spent
her life giving to others as an RN and as a professor of nursing
at a local Texas College. Donna has stage 4 breast cancer with
metastasis to the bone. She recently had a pathologic shoulder
fracture (pathologic means the break was due to a disease
process, not due to an injury). Post surgery, Donna reports the
shoulder is mending nicely. She is one of those persons that
portrays strength and courage in the face of all things.
Recently, I went to visit a friend in the hospital. I walked in
and Donna was there with her husband sharing Bible verses that
have provided strength to her during her illness. Then she
started sharing words of comfort to this patient. The room was
filled with a sense of peace and calm as she spoke. I was very
touched as an onlooker. In many lives she has been the voice of
stability in the midst of a storm.
Donna and John has been married for 52 years. They have three
children.
