Our deepest sympathies to Pat's
family. Pat passed away on April 3, 2009
I was born on January 5, 1951 in Iowa. I was
blessed with three younger brothers and their spouses and
families, who are there when I need them.
Graduated from college in 1973 with a double major in French
& Library Science I accepted my first job as French teacher
and librarian. I served as cheerleading sponsor as well
that year. In 1974, I moved back to Iowa and got a job as
K-12 Library Media Specialist. While there I continued
my education and got my master in Library Science and
Educational Media Specialist degrees. In addition to
Library Media Specialist, I was the main person in charge of
technology and computers for many years. I created the
first web page for the district and was employed there for
29 years before the position was discontinued.
In 1996, I found out that I had a birth defect and had a
titanium rod put in my neck March 17, 1997 to correct the
missing vertebrae. I always laughed and said that my head
was only hanging on by my spinal cord up until then and
didn't know it. Guardian angels were keeping me safe for 46
years. As a result of scar tissue I now have what they call
ataxia (a weakness of the muscles).
