Susan's Story
I have been a born again child of God since I
was 5 years old. When I was 9 years old my Mom passed away from
breast cancer. I was married to my Godly husband at the age of 17
years old. God has blessed us with two boys that bring us joy
everyday.
Sunday, July 22, 2007, I became very ill with
what I thought was just the flu. It turned out to be an ecoli
bacteria that got into my blood stream and caused my entire body to
go into an infectious shock. Monday, July 23, 2007, my heart
stopped twice, my kidneys were shut down for over a month, I was in
a self-induced coma, and lived by the grace of God on life support
for over a month.
Friday, July 27th, 2007, both of my
feet, ankles, and knees were amputated to save my life again. I've
been living the last year praising God for all of the family,
friends, and church families to help support me, my husband, and our
two boys.
I'm currently not using a wheelchair anymore
at all. I'm walking, painfully, each day on my prosthetic,
metal/plastic, legs. These come with very hefty price tags,
though. For the rest of my life, my family and I will be struggling
to cover all of my ongoing medical bills due to the traumatic
amputation of my legs.
I love anything and everything with the
breast cancer awareness pink ribbon on it. I love candles, any and
all scents! My favorite colors are pink and brown. I love to spend
quality time with my husband and two boys.
